ImportIntel Australia Pty Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the ImportIntel platform at globalimportintel.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: name, email address, and password (stored as a bcrypt hash — we never store plaintext passwords).
- Shipment data: product descriptions, country of origin, declared value, weight, port of destination, and other fields you enter when requesting an analysis.
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, analysis history, and subscription plan.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, and operating system collected automatically via server logs.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the ImportIntel analysis service.
- Process your shipment details through AI analysis (see Third Parties below) and return an intelligence report to you.
- Send transactional emails such as email verification, password reset, and analysis completion notifications.
- Manage your account, subscription, and billing.
- Improve the platform, detect bugs, and prevent fraud.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data for targeted advertising.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We share information with trusted third-party providers only to the extent necessary to deliver the service:
- Anthropic (Claude AI): Your shipment details are transmitted to Anthropic’s API to generate the AI analysis report. Anthropic processes this data in accordance with their Privacy Policy.
- Resend: We use Resend to send transactional emails. Your email address is shared with Resend for this purpose.
- Render.com: Our application and database are hosted on Render.com servers located in the United States. Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database on Render infrastructure.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and analysis history for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete your personal information within 90 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or tax purposes. Individual analysis records may be retained for up to 7 years to meet commercial record-keeping requirements.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed password storage, HTTP-only authentication cookies, and restricted database access. While we take reasonable precautions, no internet transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention obligations).
- Opt out of non-essential communications.

8. Cookies
We use a single HTTP-only authentication cookie to maintain your logged-in session. This cookie does not track your activity across other websites. We do not currently use third-party analytics or advertising cookies.
9. Children’s Privacy
The ImportIntel platform is intended for use by businesses and is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where changes are material, notify registered users by email.
